Sir,
The Government of Hong Kong has requested us to engage 14 Constables for service in the Police Force of that Colony and we should be much obliged if you would help us in the matter by calling for volunteers from the Force under your command.
The terms of the appointments are set forth in the form of agreement of which I enclose six copies. The candidates should not be more than 25 years of age and they will be required to pass a strict medical examination at the hands of our medical adviser in Edinburgh as to their fitness to serve in a tropical climate.
If you are able to assist us in this matter we will arrange for some officer to select from the men who may volunteer the required number and we will arrange for their medical examination.
